One fan asked “Can I have a hug?” Her reply, “You wanna hug? Come down here.” Another fan said “I actually feel like I know Katy Perry now like personally…she could be your best friend and she would be the most awesome friend ever!” One fan summed up the whole experience by stating “I got goosebumps the whole way through. She’s so inspirational.”

These lucky fans had a great time meeting Katy Perry and I think it’s safe to say that she made her fans feel like they were “living a teenage dream”!

Katy Perry dazzled at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards this past weekend with a gravity-defying performance. The songstress appeared before the audience on a sheet suspended  in the air as she crooned “Wide Awake.”
The emotional breakup track was written for Perry’s much buzzed about 3D film, Katy Perry: Part of Me, which will debut July 5th.

The set was breathtaking, reminiscent of Pink’s own Grammy performance, and featured ethereal shooting stars and clouds in the background. Perry spun in the air, decked out in a dreamy white gown billowing around her as acrobats gracefully danced around her.

Earlier that night, Katy Perry took the stage in a glittering dress matching her purple locks and accepted her Billboard Spotlight Award for garnering five No. 1 hits from her Teenage Dream album. The singer thanked her fans: “I always say the people have the power, so I want to thank all the glittering, gorgeous [people] out there. Rock on, KatyCats!” The only other artist to receive the Spotlight Award is the late Michael Jackson.

The 27-year-old pop singer doesn’t necessarily rap, but more so rap-sings Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne anthem.

Perry started off by saying, “Well I just want to say that we’re going to skate to one song and one song only.” She added “This is about to get real embarrassing,” before beginning her performance.

I thought this was a cute cover and an awesome effort by Perry but should she start preparing a future as Kay-P? Absolutely not.

On a side note, I’m loving her edgy, electric blue hair!

Following it’s debut at the 2012 Grammys, Katy Perry’s new single “Part Of Me” launches to the top of the Billboard charts– marking her seventh No. 1 on the Hot 100. Of course, it’s impossible to ignore the song’s timely release — the “E.T.” crooner recently divorced ex-husband Russel Brand, causing a media frenzy of twitter gossip and hubbub.

The song opens with some heavy imagery: “Days like this I want to drive away/ Pack my bags and watch your shadow fade/ ‘Cause you chewed me up and spit me out/Like I was poison in your mouth/ You took my light, you drained me down/ That was then and this is now.” Immediately listeners get the sense that this is going to be one of the year’s epic breakup songs.

The dance/pop beats bring the lyrics up a notch and pack a punch when the lyrics, “You can keep the diamond ring, it don’t mean nothing anyway” not-so subtly hint at Brand. Of course, the line will no doubt be on every tabloid mag detailing Perry’s supposed schemes for post-breakup revenge, but we have a feeling the track’s No. 1 chart success will keep her from getting too bummed about it.

In an effort to keep the momentum going after tying with Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 Hot 100  singles from one album, Katy Perry is onto her next pursuit for mega-hit stardom. “This is the complete story of ‘Teenage Dream,” said Perry in a press release. “It was an incredible honor to tie the King of Pop’s Billboard Hot 100 record, but I’m moving forward and had a few things left to get off my chest.  So this is the complete special edition of my album for my fans.”

The “special edition,” alluringly named, Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, will include 12 tracks from the original album, in addition to three new singles whose titles have yet to be announced. “E.T.” featuring Kanye West and “Last Friday Night” featuring Missy Elliot, as well as the acoustic version of “The One That Got Away” will be among the Confection ensemble.

Katy Perry is set to perform at the 2012 Grammy Awards this Sunday, February 12. It will be her second year in a row as a featured artist and this time around the “I Kissed A Girl” songstress is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year.

Extramarital male dating site AshleyMadison.com recently published the results for it’s popular  annual and controversial Hall Pass poll. ‘Hall pass’ is a common term for a list of fantasy partners that an average person can cheat on with no bad consequences from their significant other. Perry topped the No. 1 spot with Rihanna following in at a close No. 2. The list also included Mila Kunis, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Sofia Vegara, Blake Lively, Kim Kardashian and interestingly, Sarah Palin.

The results show that attraction is found in all shapes and sizes.

With a lot of celebrity infidelities happening every year, there is a good point that such actions might influence their own followers to do the same in their real lives.

The same article also brings up the possible theory that Perry has been receiving more male attention for recently breaking up with husband Russel Brand. I think that theory holds true. Look at the other side of the spectrum-Ashton Kutcher has been receiving a lot more media attention since his recent breakup with Demi Moore.”

While we’re big fans of Katy Perry’s hit single, “The One That Got Away,” the recently leaked remix featuring B.o.B is disjointed, awkward and shoddily thrown together. Perry currently shares the record with King of Pop, Michael Jackson, for most No. 1 hits from one album and is in the running to surpass MJ himself. However, if this remix was meant to propel “The One That Got Away” from No. 4 to the top of the charts, I hope they have a plan B. The B.o.B collab is already hitting US radio waves and has received poor fan reaction. Luckily, Perry’s momentum in the industry will probably be enough to carry the single to No. 1, regardless of this mediocre version. Although Perry has collabed with rappers in previous work, Missy Elliot on “Last Friday Night” and Kanye West on “E.T,” this “Got Away” remix not only disappoints but the cheesy lyrical input by B.o.B take away from the emotional impact of the original. Back to the drawing board please!

As part of Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011 segment, Katy Perry sat down with the broadcast journalist extraordinaire and chatted about her ambiguous sexuality (stating that she’s “not totally anything” when Walters asked if she was totally gay or straight), her future baby plans and why she had Jesus’ name inked on her left wrist when she was 18.

Overall the interview is surprisingly tame and uncontroversial (and sans tears); a bit of a letdown, as Walters is known for putting celebrities in the hot seat with her tough and confrontational questions. Perry’s overall interview was rather peppy in fact, with her optimistically hoping to “be changing ’til the last day I’m on this earth.”
