The official trailer for Willow Smith’s newest single “Fireball” featuring Nicki Minaj just dropped.

The video was shot last month in Los Angeles. In the 30-second trailer, Smith wears a variety of over-the-top, camouflage inspired, out of this world outfits. As for Minaj, well she wears a dress made out of stuffed animals and rainbow go-go boot covers… I wouldn’t expect anything less, would you?

There’s a lot of dancing and I’m actually excited to see what choreography this video has in store for viewers.

After watching the trailer, I was browsing some of the recent comments on the trailer on YouTube and there are several negative comments focusing on the inclusion of Minaj in this project. Now mind you, Smith is an 11-year-old and Minaj looks like she came out of a modern day, hip-hop fairy tale. Just look at the screenshot above. Minaj doesn’t look raunchy. She in fact, is the epitome of ‘Harajuku Barbie’.

Smith plans to drop her debut album, Willow: You Think You Know Me, this April. Jukebox, a producer who worked with Smith on tracks including “Whip My Hair,” said the album will focus on Smith’s youthfulness.

“Willow is a combination of what ‘Whip My Hair’ was. Willow just isn’t a pop star, she isn’t just an urban artist; she’s very international,” he said. “A lot of her music has a very big influence of everything from rock to pop to hip-hop.”

“It’s just the whole process,” Jukebox added. “You got to think about it: She’s a 10-year-old girl. She’s gotta have a life, she’s gotta be a kid.”

I think Willow Smith is a very talented, mature, and confident young girl. I’ve read articles that have labeled Smith as a child diva, but I really don’t see it. Do you hear about Smith talking smack on other artists or asking for ridiculous wardrobe room demands? She loves music and entertaining, and she’s just extremely lucky to have grown up with two amazing mentors to get the right opportunities. Everyone wishes for the best opportunities. There’s no need to hate on those, especially an 11-year-old girl, who are able to get the best opportunities.

Check out the trailer below. What do you think?
