Celebrity tour rider requests can give some unique and interesting insight into a celebrity’s lifestyle and personality.
Many times, a performer will give specific requests or demands that must be met before a performance-a tour rider.
Wonderland magazine recently revealed that female emcee Nicki Minaj has tour rider requests which includes two dozen roses (pink or white only), three large baked goods-scented candles, two packs of Hall’s lemon honey drops, three packages of lozenges, a bottle of throat spray, and hot tea with lemon. As for food? The Harajuku Barbbie requests a fruit platter, dried cranberries, raw almonds, egg whites, turkey bacon, a healthy salad with cucumbers, olives, light dressing and Bumble Bee tuna, and then three 12-piece buckets of spicy chicken, mostly wings.
I was going to say Minaj was pretty healthy until I read about the fried chicken part…
If you’re wondering, these personal requests are pretty industry standard.
A quick look at soul singer Adele’s tour rider from her 2011 North American tour includes requests for all complimentary guests to donate to a U.K. charity, the “very best quality” red wine, an assortment of chewing gum in her room, a pack of Marlboro Lights, and that no tomatoes, vinegar, chili or citrus fruits are to be served in her green room.
As for Drake? His tour rider requests include chicken wings, pasta, salad, rolls, rice, cheese, fruit, sour Gummi Bears and more spread out on linen tablecloths, bottles of Hennessey, Grey Goose, Patron and Pinot Grigio, and a bottle of pineapple juice. Looks like Drake is a shots type of guy! The young rapper also lists scented candles, Listerine spray, Nivea chapstick and electric fans.
If you could make your own tour rider list, what would be on it? I think my requests would include a nice bottle of semi-sweet white wine, fresh berries, fresh laundry or ocean scented candles, that a couple cute hypoallergenic puppies be around for me to play with during down time, and that a disco ball be installed to the ceiling.
