STAFF PICK OF THE DAY: Beyoncé and Jay-Z Welcome Blue Ivy Carter With “Glory”

In honor of the birth of Lady B and Jay-Z’s newborn daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, we have declared “Glory” as today’s pick of the day. This past Sunday morning, January 8, welcomed the couple’s first child after a decade long relationship. “Glory” marks a new chapter in their lives; the couple suffered a miscarriage previous to the birth of Blue Ivy. Jay-Z posted the new single today on his Life and Times website, rapping, “Last time the miscarriage was so tragic/We was afraid you’d disappear/But nah baby you magic.”

The song bursts with happiness and we can almost see the rapper grinning with pride as the mellow beats and rhymes flow. As he repeats the word, “Glory,” the soothing crooning of women reverberates in the background, as if paying tribute to the power couple’s latest addition to the family. Great things are ahead for Lady B and her hubby. Congratulations you two, 2012 is your year!
